All About
Eye Tests
We don’t rush our eye tests and usually spend approximately 45 minutes examining both the interior and exterior of your eyes. Together with some straightforward questions and some simple eye tests, Amy will be able to assess your vision, focus, movement and the co-ordination of your eyes. She can diagnose eye conditions and also potentially reveal a range of other health problems.
On completing your eye examination we will be able to advise you whether a prescription or further tests may be required. This can be followed up straight away using our state of the art optical equipment together with time spent in our fashion clinic, discussing the options available from our extensive range of frames with Carole our Dispensing Optician.
Our
Bespoke Consultations
Should a bespoke consultation be required, we will conduct a very specific examination, studying your eyes in even greater detail. We use the very latest in advanced optical technology combined with traditional optometric testing. Using Optical Coherence Tomography with an optical binocular microscope, we provide the best advice and treatment for your eyes.
Smith and Swepson are one of the few opticians to use Optomap, a new generation of high-tech scanning technology. A significant advance in eye care, this equipment enables us to detect signs of other diseases (e.g. heart disease and brain tumours) and can be incorporated into your standard eye test at an extra cost.
Referrals
We have long standing relationships with a range of optical experts and consultant ophthalmologists.
Should you require specialist treatment for conditions such as cataracts, macular degeneration or glaucoma we regularly refer people to local consultants for the best treatment available both privately and on the NHS.
