Dry Eye Clinic
What are the
Symptoms
Symptoms of Dry Eye Disease might include:
- An itchy and gritty feeling in your eye
- A burning sensation
- General eye irritation
- Tearing
- Red eyelids
- Sensitivity to light
- Excessive tears
These symptoms occur when your tear flow reduces or evaporates too quickly. In order to see clearly and comfortably, you need a smooth and stable tear film across the surface of your eyes to cover and protect them.
How we make
A Diagnosis
A number of factors can prevent your tear film working as it should and lead to Dry Eye Disease.
Amy will be able to diagnose this condition by taking a medical history, together with a thorough eye examination and a variety of other tests that will check tear production and evaporation.
Treatment and Management of
Dry Eye Disease
The aim of dry eye treatment should be to:
- Ease your symptoms and soothe your eyes
- Help you see clearly
- Minimise or avoid further damage to the eye surface
- Treat underlying causes
After your examination, we will be able to recommend treatments to alleviate the condition. We ensure that we are up to date with the newest, most effective treatments for this condition. For example:
NuLids, a handheld device to clean and stimulate the Meibomian glands. Often described as being like a visit to the dental hygienist for your eyes!
Zest (Zocular Eyelid System Technology), performed by Amy, is a non-invasive deep-cleaning system providing both immediate and long-lasting relief.
Finally, Amy will provide a bespoke care plan for you that will give you advice on how to help your condition on a daily basis.
Follow-up appointments are conducted over the next three months to assess your progress and fine-tune your treatment.
Our clinic also offers management and treatment for other common eyelid problems such as Blepharitis and Eyelid cysts (Chalazion or Meibomian Cysts).
